FOODIE FRIDAY for April 8, 2011

I'm thrilled to know that these sandwiches are made fresh.  It's the "tosasted" stuff that really concerns me, though...

Thanks to JOHN Z. for spotting this one!

And just what does "Shawarma" mean?

I was wondering that, too--I'm hoping it's that particular chain of restaurant's name for a chicken pita, or maybe it means "chicken pita" in another language...

Maybe it's written in "Spanglish," or these words just haven't been added to the dictionary yet... Although, I'm sure that's not the case and I really wonder what management thought when they saw these signs in print?

I know I always prefer my bread tosasted. However, why does it just say "chicken" when you can clearly see other meat in the picture?

It's like a bad, mid-western accent spelled out. I would love to meet the people that are responsible for making such advertisements and ask them, "What goes on in your head?"

Made fresh and toasted to order would have been a better slogan but who knows with shawarma.....has anyone come up with an answer to this...what is it??

Alisdair, you know how sometimes people refer to all tissues as Kleenex? Maybe this writer took a similar approach and refers to all meat as chicken...

Brian, I think we're all still lost on what "Shawarma" means...perhaps we should make up our own fun definition of it!
