Nice thought, but not-so-nice execution...

I like the sentiment. I like the handwriting. But I can't help but feel that the sign would be a bit more convincing/meaningful if they'd managed to spell Steinbrenner's name correctly...*sigh*.

HUMP DAY GRAMMAR for July 14, 2010

This is a subtle but very amusing error. Red Pen, Inc. reader JEANNE says: The solution to perky??? I thought we wanted perky...maybe I'm behind the times.

What they should have done was written "The Invisible Solution For a Naturally Perky Look." Women don't want something to solve the problem of being perky--because perkiness isn't a problem at all. Ladies want something to make their twins look more perky!

Those boobs over at Bare Lifts really need a lesson in prepositions, don't you think? ;)

It's All-Star Game day!

I love the All-Star Game. The vast majority of my very favorite players get to play in that game, which means I only have to watch one game that night and I get to see more hotness than I typically see in any regular baseball game. This year I'll be drooling over my favorite talented/gorgeous players Mauer, Halladay, Hamilton, Longoria and Lee, while wishing Utley was well enough to play.

One thing I know for certain is that contrary to what the above article says, the National League has not won since 1996. The American League always kicks their butts. (Perhaps this year will be different...but I doubt it!) Clearly that article's author meant to say "hasn't" instead of "has."

Happy All-Star Game day to you...who else is gonna be watching the game? I'll be bringing a towel to wipe up all the drool... ;)

MISSPELLING MONDAY for June 12, 2010

Happy Monday! Or is it Moon-day? It looks like it's Moon-day for several Californians. But for the folks over at Copy-editors Needed Now, it's just another normal day of misspelling things on the interwebs. Amtrak does, indeed, run on a track, but it has no c (nor the word "track") in its name. Amtrak is a pretty well-known business, so I'm kinda surprised that someone misspelled this. But then again, we know all about the sub-par spelling skills of those Copy-editors Needed Now folks, so...I'm really not all that surprised. ;)

A very crappy typo!

It's very, very rare that I feature back-to-back RPI submissions from the same person. But there are exceptions to every rule, and MIKE S. is that exception. Because really, he sent in just too hilarious of an error to wait to post.

Those Yahoos have since taken down the original page on which this error had been found, but Mike was wise enough to take a screenshot of the page when he first noticed this error. I'm guessing the Yahoos meant to say "shift"...but that's not quite how it came out.

Thanks to MIKE S. for sending in the funniest typo I've seen in a long, long time!

Welcome to Backwardsville, PA!

Although I'm from the Philly suburbs (and that's where I call home), before I moved to New York I'd lived in central Pennsylvania for a while. Central PA's an interesting place. Many of its natives dig country music, huntin', and fishin'. Many of them drive pickup trucks (sometimes with shotgun racks mounted in the back). Some of them are Amish. Some of them are somewhat toothless.

Simply put, Pennsyltucky can sometimes be a kind of...backwards place. And today's featured typo supports that theme. Instead of presenting free movies, one central PA town is preventing them! That doesn't sound like much fun, does it? Backwards, indeed!

Thanks to MIKE S. for spotting this typo!

Since it's a hot one today...

...I'd recommend keeping cool with some yummy Rita's (if you're fortunate enough to have one around you--luckily, I have one only a couple miles away from me). But I'd also caution you to not take spelling lessons from their signage. Free ice coupon = good. Misspelling a not-so-difficult word like receive = not so good. Thanks to SMOOCHIEFROG for spotting this error!

By the way, if you do go to Rita's, I highly recommend the Swedish Fish flavor (if they have it). I'm kind of addicted to it. (And for the ladies, if you eat enough of it, it can double as a lip stain!)
