Good news!

If you're a Red Pen, Inc. reader who uses Internet Explorer and who has been annoyed by the rather persistent Internet Explorer error that has been causing this page to go POOF! while you're trying to read it, you'll be pleased to know that the bug has been banished from our happy little land of grammar and snarkiness. (Fellow bloggers, if this is happening on your own blogs, just get rid of the Followers widget in your sidebar...the problem should go away right away.)

Happy reading... :)

Dang, is that all it takes? Sheesh. You'd think they'd get it fixed.

You'd think that Blogger would have found a workaround for all blogs, but they didn't. Unfortunately, this is the best--and ONLY--workaround I know of. IE8 is really buggy, and I'm actually really curious as to how and why the folks at Microsoft have not yet fixed IE 8, since that seems to be the source of the problem.

As a web developer, Internet Explorer makes my life a living hell on a regular basis. It needs to die a horrible death.

Same here! At work, our newly-redesigned site looks awful in IE 8. Looks fine in Firefox, though. The web program that we use to design the site also likes to crash when we use IE...I'm turning into more of a Firefox fan by the SECOND...

Out of desparation, I turned into a FF fan. I'm rather liking the automatic spelling check FF has. At least I can see at a glance where I've made an error or at least the errors that aren't homonym problems.

I took the first two comments over to my blog and posted there. I figured since it was a public conversation and not something private in email that it would be ok to do so. At least now others can see that they're not alone in this problem.

No problem at all! I hope this info is helpful to other bloggers. I know my own traffic has gone down a little as a result of this bug, and I'm hoping that now that I got rid of the error, my stats will climb again. Hopefully the same will be true for any other bloggers who had this problem and who see and use this info!

I'm a Mac user, so Safari is my browser of choice. Just far more elegant. :)

Macs have a tendency to either completely baffle me or make me very, very angry. I remember laying out my high school newspaper on 9-year-old Macs. I found out the hard way that sometimes those Macs ate disks. I have loathed them ever since. ;)

Oh, yeah, you definitely need a refresher course.

Granted the chances of you and I being in the same place at some point in the near future is practically nill, but if I win the lottery, I'll buy you one and fly up to give you lessons. :P

LOL! Good deal! Everyone keeps telling me I should really switch to using Macs since my day job = webmaster. However, since I was in an Apple store last month to buy a gift card for a friend, and I was ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED AND OVERWHELMED in the store, that's really not a good sign, haha.

Great information about the IE8 bug! Unfortunately that doesn't help me if the offending blog doesn't want to take the Following Link off their sidebar. I usually just play around with it and eventually I get the page to come up.

ChicagoLady! How the heck are ya? Is your back feeling any better? It's nice to see you around here again. :)
