Starting this weekend, baseball is finally back...

Baseball season starts this weekend (OK, most teams start playing on Monday, but my Phillies have their first game on the season on Sunday evening *squeal*)! For me, spring training ending and baseball season starting means that spring has sprung. Nothing about this scenario involves "sproing," though. There is no such thing as "sproing training." Hell, there's no such word as "sproing"!

In celebration of the return of baseball, you just might see a bunch of baseball-themed Red Pen, Inc. posts this weekend (and Monday, too). You've been warned. ;)

Thanks to CRANE for spotting this amusing misspelling!

Sproing should be a word. It's onomatopoeic. =)

"Sproing" could be the noise that one would hear while you are jumping up and down for joy because baseball season has started... Actually, in your case one would hear "sproing" and a lot of squealing. lol
Love you.

Maybe it's akin to Wayne's World's "schwiiiing".

@ Bridgete: I agree. It has a fun ring to it, doesn't it? :)

Yay!!!! Baseball is back!!!!!

Sproing definitely should be a word. The sound made when a spring expands after being compressed. Like the cartoons where someone has springs on their shoes and is jumping around. Can't you just hear it? "Sproing, sproing, sproing"

I'm not so sure that is a typo as much as it might be a phonetic spelling with a gritty urban accent.

Cheers

@ ChicagoLady: Yay, indeed! :D

"Sproing" sounds like the noise that Tigger's feet make when he bounces... :)

@ David: Ha! :)

The wonderful thing about tiggers
Is tiggers are wonderful thoings!
Their tops are made out of rubber
Their bottoms are made out of sproings!

Isn't that how it goes?

@ JD: Hahaha! Yep, somethin' like that! :)
