TO/TOO/TWO TUESDAY for March 10, 2009

I'm really intrigued by this dissolvable dress idea. See, I'm kind of a slave to fashion, and most of the space in my room is taken up by racks to hang my clothing on (5) or drawers to put my clothing in (25). A dissolvable dress would solve this sort of problem. Once I'm done wearing it, it would just...go...away. I wouldn't have to find a place to store it. I wouldn't even have to bother to wash it after wearing it! And I'd probably be quite the hit at parties if I showed up wearing it and stayed there for a long time...

However, I am not intrigued by the silly homonym error and the semicolon misuse present in this article. Sigh. Luckily, I'm distracted by pretty, fashion-related things... (And damn this article for not telling me where I can buy one of these kickass dresses!)

Yeah, the errors kind of ruin what is actually a very interesting article. But I agree, this dress is awesome!

Awesome, indeed. Environmentally friendly, AND it'll make you the most popular girl at the party! :)

Those typos are annoying, but I'm more concerned about the assertion that it's "meant to demonstrate society's needless consumption and apt to throw things way..." What? Really? Demonstrate society's apt? Throw things which way? East?

Great catch, Robin! And to answer your question, I say we oughta throw things in whichever direction these crappy writers happen to be standing. If we hit 'em in the head with enough stuff, perhaps we'll knock some sense into them! ;)

I think the use of "affect" here is deliberate, rather than a case of the common confusion with "effect." It's a modern, slangy usage borrowed from medicine, as in, "The patient is coherent but his affect is inappropriately flat." Not that I regard it as good writing.

Oooh. I can definitely see how that's possible, but dammit, it still annoys me! LOL. :)
