I wonder why her name's so difficult to spell...

I'm pretty sure most guys who had a crush on Ms. McKellar back in the day could at least manage to spell her last name correctly...unless, of course, they were using that pesky 50% rule again.

Who were your celebrity crushes when you were young? (And can you/could you spell their names properly? I'm betting you can/could!)

Hmm. Good question. I suppose the only crush I had when I was younger was Leonardo DiCaprio. Hey, look, I can spell his name right! ;)

I think my most obsessive crush as a kid had to have been Jonathan Brandis (may he rest in peace). I had every episode of "SEAQUEST" on VHS tape.

My most enduring crush, though, has to be Elijah Wood. I still find him adorable.

But neither of their names are difficult to spell. At least I don't think so (since I had all that practice writing them on notebooks in junior high). ;)

I had way too many to count. Yes, I knew how to spell their names correctly!

I never really had celebrity crushes when I was a little kid, but Gerard Way and Katee Sackhoff are my personal favorites right now. And yes, I can spell their names.

Unless - are we including baseball players as "celebrity crushes"? Because if we are, then I have a whole list I can copy-paste into this comments box....

@ Bridgete: He's a hottie! I liked him in the modern movie version of Romeo & Juliet. :)

@ Ranielle: I don't know how I never managed to see an episode of SEAQUEST. I had friends who really liked the show, so you'd think I would have gotten into it too, but I always kept forgetting to check it out.

I'm guessing my celebrity crush (actor) would be, embarrassingly enough, David Spade. I don't generally go for blondes, but I love his snarkiness! :)

@ LadyStyx: It doesn't surprise me at ALL that Red Pen, Inc. readers can all spell the names of their celebrity crushes correctly. :) (I have a feeling I scare away the bad spellers and that they don't read this blog, haha...)

@ Crane: I'm embarrassed to say I don't know who either of those people are!

Yeah, I'll count baseball players (or any professional athletes) as celebrity crushes. :) I've got a whole list of those, too! (Cole Hamels, Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, Chase Utley, Jayson Werth, Pat the Bat, Grant Balfour, Jeff Francoeur...and the list goes on...) Back in the day, I used to crush on many more rock stars than baseball players, but now it looks like I'm less interested in the tattoos and piercings and more interested in the pinstripes. (Which is why I like Josh Hamilton--he looks hot in his baseball uniform AND he's got a ton of tattoos...)

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I was kind of drawing a blank on hotties of the 70's. I even used the internet to jog my memory, but the only one from amongst their suggestions who I agreed with was Jacklyn Smith (and even though I just saw the name, I got it wrong: it's Jaclyn). But now I remember lusting after Adrienne Barbeau (had to look that one up...hey, it's a weird name!) and Barbi Benton (got that one right, finally).

Props to you, Punctuator, for taking the time to look up the correct spelling of the name that you were unsure how to spell! If only everyone was so diligent! :)
