This can't possibly be right...

Those silly Yahoos are at it again! LISA, one of my radio interns from waaaaaay back in the day, spotted this little error. She says: This was a headline link that I found on Yahoo's main page. Perhaps they haven't seen any of the 50 billion commercials indicating that the switch will be to digital...or maybe they've been living under a rock and didn't know that we've been watching analog TV for the past like 75 years.

Luckily, Yahoo seems to have gotten the article itself right, as the story connected to this link was about TV stations getting ready to cut their analog signals. But that headline was certainly screwy and misleading, wasn't it?

Thanks to LISA for finding this one!

Sounds like a headline from the CBC - they are SO behind the times and are probably just upgrading to analog. Although I'm not sure what came before analog...cave drawings?

It's the anti-digital movement! Run to your nearest antique store and find a really old TV! One that doesn't even have a remote control!

@ Erika: Cave drawings! Hahahaha.

Then again, I suppose I shouldn't be laughing too hard. I get made fun of for one of my TVs still being a "tube" TV and not a flat-screen. Apparently I, too, am slightly behind the times!

@ Bridgete: Noooo! I couldn't live without a remote control!

My parents have the coolest big ol' antique TV. Although I don't think it even works anymore...now they've put a blanket on top of it so that the kittens can snooze on it. :)

Hey! What's wrong with that tv? There is no blanket on it anymore. It has a pretty lamp and some Lang boxes on it now.
And by the way...You might think of it as an antique, but it is younger than you are by about three months, Sweetie. So, NOW who is the antique? lol
Love you.

Haha! I guess *I* am the antique, then...a 28-year-old antique! :)

Actually, I love that TV. Better watch that the kitties don't NOM your lamp or your Lang boxes! They're bad-asses like that! Love you, too! :)

Nothing upsets me more than the thought of an analog TV using an RF Switch hookup...except maybe VHS (shudder)....you might as well vomit on a peice of cardboard and try watching that..

Hey now, the other half of my DVD player plays videotapes...haha!

I remember seeing that news update on Yahoo, and didn't even catch it. Good job Lisa for catching that.

Oh and Grammarphile, I still have a tube tv, 26" no less. In fact, I have two tube tvs. Or is that tv's? TVs? TV's? Hell, televisions. I'm going to bed!

Oh, thank goodness I'm not the only one who still has a tube! LOL. :) And I'm in good company, too!

I can't believe I didn't see that headline. BTW, the headlines on Yahoo!'s front page (www.yahoo.com) are written by Yahoo! editors. The actual article that the headline links to is a feed from a major news source like AP or Reuters, and not written by Yahoos.

I just wished I'd seen this for http://terriblywrite.wordpress.com documenting the daily errors made by the writers and editors at Yahoo!. I'm totally jealous.

That's really interesting. That headline was written by an *editor*? That's just shameful. They really need to hire some new editors! :)
