You wanna spam me? Fine, then. I'll Red Pen you!

It snowed yesterday (and I freakin' HATE everything about snow), and the day before that, I had to go to the dentist, which I always loathe doing. It should come as no surprise that, as a result of these things, I'm a little crankier than usual today. Things are getting under my skin a little more than they usually do. Unsolicited e-mails from conservative groups are one such thing.

The other day I noticed that somehow I'd started getting sent mail from some conservative group who evidently (and VERY mistakenly) thought I'm a conservative blogger. I was gonna hit the "unsubscribe" link on the e-mail that I had most definitely not subscribed myself to, and then a very diabolical thought popped into my head: they're eventually gonna screw something up in one of their e-mails, and it will be perfect fodder for Red Pen. I grudgingly pointed my mouse away from the "unsubscribe" link.

It only took 'em two more e-mails before I found a mistake. Which, of course, I promptly print-screened...and then joyfully clicked that lovely little "unsubscribe" link. "Governors of the several states"? Eeek. (Note to the conservatives who write this newsletter: Just because Sarah Palin, the latest It Girl of the Republican world, uses really wonky grammar doesn't mean YOU have to, too!)

The Several States of America - it must refer to the 'several' states that actually DID vote for McCain and Palin...

I'm glad I don't live in one of those states! :)

Continuing to stay on a conservative mailing list just to catch a typo may trump walking through the ghetto when it comes to proving how dedicated you are.

We love you for it. :)

Well, "Danger" is my middle name... :) I'm glad you guys appreciate the great lengths I'll go to in order to get great material for a RPI post! I feel all warm and fuzzy now, haha. Thanks, EVula!

Have any of their recent politicians been able to speak English? I thought being educated and having an IQ above 80 were unacceptable liberal vices these days...

I too received this spam, but at first assumed that it was somebody adopting a passive-aggressive approach to punishing me for being mean about the Moose, or implying on my blog that I thought black and gay people were actual humans, or similar. Glad to see it's a proper spam campaign.

Hi, Robert! Glad to see that I wasn't the only one who received this annoying (and poorly-targeted) spam. :)

They're just stepping up their campaigning because they've become painfully aware that they just can't compete with THIS -> http://gawker.com/5110161/adorable-vp-adopts-adorable-puppy

Damn right! (And whoever sent me this conservative e-mail was totally NOT adorable!)

Well, what could they do? 'Oddly Bond-Villain-like VP adopts sharks with laser on their heads'?

Hahaha...now THAT would be a hell of a story!
