I need a drink.

Tonight's Phillies game...wasn't the best. They made errors (yeah, Jayson Werth, I'm talkin' to you), stranded lots of guys on base, and let the Rays beat 'em by a score of 4-2. I liked last night's Phillies win, with Cole Hamels pitching, much better. Tonight, though, I need a drink. Perhaps I'll mix myself a Cole Hamels MVP Martini.

But I'm not just gonna drink because my boys lost their game tonight--I'm gonna drink because--*gasp*--Cole Hamels was the victim of misapostrophization in the drink recipe (and you know how cranky I get when poor Cole is the victim of anything relating to bad writing/editing)! He can always be referred to as King Cole Hamels (that's kinda hot, actually), but never as "King Cole Hamel's." His last name is Hamels. That means that if there was ever a time to apostrophize his last name--for instance, if he was in possession of something like, say, a fan base of girls who think he's gorgeous, then the apostrophe would come after the last letter of his last name. As in: "King Cole Hamels' fan base of girls who think he's hot is growing at an astronimical rate." Or: "King Cole Hamels' fan base of girls who think he's hot is no match for a Grammarphile girl who lives in New York--someday he's gonna dump that ex-Survivor chick he's married to and hook up with said Grammarphile, 'cause he totally digs word nerds like her." Or something like that.

Thanks to ARJEWTINO for finding this yummy drink recipe! (As if Hamels wasn't intoxicating enough...now we're gonna add alcohol into the equation! Hehe.)

Sorry about the game. (*Cough, gag*) At least you split on the road ...

Haha, thank you for trying to sound sympathetic. :) Hopefully the Phils will step it up at home. My parents are going to game 5 and they're hoping to see 'em clinch that night...

Hey grammaphile, I like your angle into grammar but as Phillies fan you must know the score was 4-2 and not 4-1.

I too hope they clinch in 5 but alas I doubt that will happen.

Hi, RK! Yeah, I posted this while the game was still going on, assuming that--since they'd been really rotten at scoring during this game--they weren't gonna score any more...and after the second run scored, I forgot to go back and change this! Thanks for the reminder (it's changed now).

Maybe I am not moving with the times, but the correct spelling for laughing that way is "hee, hee".
Yeah, I know, nobody knows that anymore.
