Gettin' catty about headlines...

After I clicked on this, um, rather intriguing headline and read the article the headline links to, I found out that someone's landlord used dead cats to try to force out his tenants. When I originally looked at the headline, I read it as though it meant that the dead cats themselves used to (as in, past tense) try to evict the tenants. And then I wondered, were these actual cat corpses or were they feline ghosts that were terrorizing these tenants? And then, upon reading the article, it all finally made sense to me. Sigh.

I'm thinkin' they could have found a better way to write this headline. (Wouldn't "Tenants say dead cats were used to try to evict them" be more accurate? Wordier, yes, but much more precise...) This headline is obviously easily misinterpreted. Either that or I have a morbidly warped mind...

Heh, I like the idea of zombie feline landlords. Great mental picture...

I'm with evula. That's a script just waiting to be written.

Hahahaha, ew. Also, I would evict someone if their apartment was full of dead cats.

Zombie feline landlords sound like something right out of a Far Side cartoon. :)

This makes me think that the cats were trying to evict the tenants before the cats died. Like the tenants called up the newspaper and started telling this tale of how their feline landlords used to try to evict them, but then died.

Haha! That would sure be amusing, wouldn't it? Well, except for the cats being dead, and all. (I love cats...I'd probably be sad if I saw a dead cat who was once an evil feline landlord!)
