Another episode of the name game...

SHELBY, who sent in this little gem, notes that this article has terrible spelling and poor comma placement. And she's right...especially when you notice that the spelling in question is the name of the person who is the subject of this article! Poor Tanis (or is it Tannis? I've never read her blog, so I'm not sure). If they're gonna misspell her name, they may as well do it consistently, right?

Thanks to SHELBY for submitting this one!

Oh, good catch, Shelby and Grammarphile! I myself am embarrassingly bad when it comes to spelling names correctly. On my own blog, I have misspelled Michael Crichton ("Michael Crighton"), Pam Grier ("Pam Greer"), and Ross Perot ("Ross Peros") to name just a few. However, I should point out that the Ross Perot mishap was a pure typo. I know how to spell the guy's name. I swear. No, really, I do.

Speaking of spelling names incorrectly... This morning I went to the cafeteria for some tea. I noticed that they'd put up a new plaque with the three cafeteria managers' pictures on it. Across the top of the plaque was the name of the company who staffs the cafeteria--and their name was spelled incorrectly! To make matters worse, each cafeteria manager had the company's name spelled correctly on their polo shirts--and the lettering on their shirts was quite visible on the plaque! Sigh.

Editrix, don't feel too bad about misspelling those names--happens to the best of us sometimes, right? :)

It's Tanis, and she's awesome.

I read that article and didn't catch the name or the comma. I've become desensitized. Sad.

Hi, Canape! I'll have to check Tanis out sometime...and I wish I was at the point where I could be desensitized to that kind of stuff! If that were the case, I suspect I'd have fewer headaches... :)
