Freakin' Mets. I hate you.

Okay, I need to do something to make myself feel better about the Phillies' awful loss to the Mets tonight, so...let's make fun of the punctuationally-challenged people who write about the Mets!

The phrase "Cheer up Mets fans" is not exactly what the writer should have used here. He should have used "Cheer up, Mets fans" (note the comma!) because he, the writer, was speaking directly to the readers, presumably Mets fans. He was not, we can safely assume, speaking to random people that he hoped would actually go and make the Mets fans cheer up. That wouldn't make much sense. After all, who* would want to go cheer up a Mets fan in the first place? ;)

* Okay, okay, I would go cheer up a Mets fan, but only if it's the GRAMMAR STUD. He's the one exception. He's cute and knows how to properly use semicolons, and that's an irresistible combination!
