All flared up and ready to go...

Clearly, there are a ton of mistakes hiding out in this ad for a new hair salon, but the most appalling of them is the hononym error: using flare instead of flair.

What exactly do you think a cosmopolitan flare looks like, anyway? I envision a small flame sticking out of a martini glass.

This is one of my HUGEST peeves...mostly because it's so misunderstood I see it all the time in places where I expect to see no grammatical mistakes: novels, newspapers, magazines, etc.
