This makes me queasi.

Omigod, I absoluteli loathe how people insist on making words overli cutesi by changing the their spellings, making them end with i's instead of the y's with which they were born! This trend is incredibli yucki. It looks like something a Valley Girl would write. All we need is a little heart over the i at the end of the word, right? Gag me with a spoon!

I'm so focused on this bastardization of the word trendy that I can barely even stomach the fact that Line One of this ad really needs something punctuation-esque, such as..."Sophia's--now open!", or "Sophia's...now open!". Or maybe a verb would do the trick, ie, "Sophia's is now open!" But as it's currently written, one could infer from it that Sophia herself is open, and I think we're all in agreement that a) Sophia needs to shut whatever on her is open, and b) Sophia needs to acquaint herself with spell-check.

Seems "trendi" these days to do this type of thing to first names too, "Becki" instead of the traditional "Becky". Or some even more bastardized classics, "Mykel", "Daynah" and "Justyn" are just a few that come to mind.

Yeah, I've noticed that trend, too. When these people give their kids such weird spellings of names, do they realize that a) they're dooming the kid to a lifetime of having their name misspelled, or b) that they're not gonna make the kid any more interesting or cool by tweaking the spelling of a "normal" name? Ugh.

By the way--do you recognize the banner in the picture? ;)
